Time off after birth?

How do so many women take so much time off 4 months to be with their baby and still be paid

I am 6 months pregnant and was reading into State Disability Insurance (SDI) and Paid Family Leave (PFL) and they both offer 6 weeks with the exception of having a C-section ftom the State. How are mothers able to take 4 months off and be paid.

Time off after birth?
Some women live in countries that have paid leave. Like me. Also good employers in the US often offer paid leave.
Reply:It all depends on your company. I am only planning on 6 weeks, because mine is unpaid. My state WA does not have short term disability for pregnancy and I work for a very small company, that doesn't offer it either.

You are lucky you are getting the 6 weeks not everyone does.

good luck!
Reply:all depends on the company you work for too.
Reply:most women i know do not have any sort of paid maternity leave at their jobs. I have 12 weeks of unpaid leave myself that i will be using all of my sick time and vacation at my job to subsidize.
Reply:Maternity leave. It all depends on the hours you've put in at a job.
