4 questions?

30)In comparing mitosis and meiosis, which of the following statements is true? a)Meiosis I is more like mitosis than is meiosis II. b)Both processes result in four cells. c)Pairing of homologues occurs in both. d)Chromatids are present only in mitosis. e)Meiosis II resembles mitosis

31)Which event occurs in mitosis but NOT in meiosis? a)bipolar spindle formation b)tethering of chromosomes to microtubules c)chromosomes dragged to poles by microtubules d)nuclear envelopes breaking up and reforming e)none of these

40)4 of 5 choices listed below concern cells with 2 chromosome sets. Select the exception. a)zygote b)somatic cells c)gamete d)diploid e)sporophyte generation

41)4 of 5 events listed below are related to pairing of chromosomes. Select the exception. a)pairing of homologues b)crossing over c)exchange of genes d)tight aligning of homologues

e)independent assortment during anaphase I

4 questions?
30) I'd say A. Because there is a duplication of chromatids in both Meiosis I and in mitosis. It's NOT B for sure because mitosis produces only 2 cells. It can't be D either, because chromatids are prensent in both processes.

31) They are all happening in both. so E

40) C because gametes (like sperm and eggs) are cells ready for fecondation. they only have HALF the chromosome set.

41) I'd go with E. Homologues are always paired, that is until the anaphase, so A and D got to be right. Cross over is an exchange of genes between the two homologues, which is C. The answer E talks of anaphase, which is the breakage of the centromeres.
