According to some, neither exist.
(on a side note, remember that 'I before E, except after C' rule? Neither is an exception, atheist is not)
Is seeing Jesus the same as seeing an atheist in a foxhole?
Not in my experiences, I was in Iraq twice with many Atheists. In fact my team leader was Atheist, and we got along just fine, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. He was the best NCO I ever had the privilege of serving under, an honest person; he was reasonable, rational, understanding and fair. Twenty-one years, raised a Christian and I have never seen Jesus; but I did serve with an Atheist for nine months in Iraq.

Reply:I don't know about the latter, but it wouldn't make a difference to me if I saw Jesus, because there is a chance an individual named Jesus Christ did exist
But pretending I didn't think he was real, it still wouldn't be the same, because while there is MUCH proof that atheists exist (We're right here. Hello???) there is not as much proof to the other.
Reply:I have a different perspective:
Seeing Jesus, one sees a culture, an influence on Western civilization, an undeniable societal impact---all without applying the ingredient of religious faith. I can see Jesus, and indeed I do see him, in the accepted ideals I was raised with, and the accepted cultural framework for expressing many things, such as hope and grief, yet this in no way affects my Atheism.
As far as Atheists in foxholes, I'll reserve judgement---I've seen Atheists, knowing their death was imminent, die in absolute peace, and without guilt. When I face the foxhole of death, I'll make up my mind then.
Reply:I've seen an atheist in a foxhole.
EDIT: Wait...yes I get it.
It really is the same.
However, an atheist in a foxhole can be exhibited; Jesus can not.
Reply:No the Bible says that no one can see the face of God and live, I could look at a fool in a fox hole and live.
Reply:They both exist now, but they both can't exist together for ever.
Reply:you gotta be a little more flexible... foxholes have gotten smaller over time
Reply:I am an atheist, I was in foxholes when I was in the military. The only thing is I never had this "Oh God help me" thing. Therefore what you mentioned is invalid.
Reply:The first is a myth; the second certainly can exist. If someone hasn't been taught to believe in a superior being, they have no concept of prayer or religion.
Reply:well not quite... athiests are living breathing things and it would be ignorant to say that there has never been one athiest in a ox hole... but jesus is an object that we have no real evidence on except for religion and text.
Reply:It's the question of seeing, not existense of Jesus or the atheist in a f/hole, isn't it?
If so, my answer would be no, it's not the same.
I have seen Jesus and can see him any time I want, and it's great! But I've been atheist for the most of my life and have been in a f/hole quite often too (metaforically speaking) and I can just picture myself there again! Boy! these two things are very different - trust me. (By the way - I am not of christian religion.)
