Is the Gauntlet 3 and MTV promoting violence againsts homosexuals?

MTV has a policy that if you commit any act of physical violence you are sent home and banned from ever appearing on any other shows with MTV again. Last season C.T. (very sexy guy) punched Davis(known for being a cute homosexual) in the face and gave him a black eye. MTV sent C.T. packing right after that, MTV also sent home lots of other, much less attractive people, because of this policy. This season they have made an exception to their own rule for C.T. to come back onto the show, because he is so cute and popular probably, and Davis is not back on the show. MTV thinks this is ok because there are a couple of girls (one who was never even gay before) and a couple of guys making out. I think that MTV making this exception for C.T. is totally unacceptable and the message that MTV is putting out there is that drunken violence against gays is acceptable. Is anyone outraged? Or does nobody care anymore?

To me its a different season, I dont think you are banned for life once you hit someone. I think they are banned from the season they are currently running, and that punishment is fair to me. They do stuff like that for good ratings, no one will watch if it is boring.
Reply:Secluded, had almost the same answer as the best answer, so I was wondering how you picked the best one. Then I realized that S said that CJ was drunk.

Come on S, I hope you don't think that is an excuse! I think that it makes it worse. Report It

Reply:It makes for good ratings...
Reply:Are you kidding? MTV likes to promote violence period. MTV loooves fighting among its reality show casts! The network is becoming more and more lenient. No one is banned from ALL shows for being violent. I'm definitely not outraged. However, I am a little annoyed that you jump to the odd conclusion that MTV is promoting violence against homosexuals. I think knee jerk reactions like yours are similar to "crying wolf". When there are legitimate cases of discrimination or persecution on the basis of sexual orientation, people are less likely to take them seriously.

Food for thought:

David from Real World: Los Angeles was the first person kicked off for aggressive behavior. He later competed in a Real World/Road Rules competition and almost immediately got into a fight with Puck who was kicked out of the house during Real World: San Francisco. Both were sent home early from that show but for different reasons.

Abram from Road Rules: South Pacific was sent home for hitting Donnell. Last year he was again sent home for punching Adam on Road Rules: Viewers Revenge. I wouldn't be surprised if he shows up on a future Real World/Road Rules challenge.

MTV also owns VH1. On the VH1 reality dating show I Love New York 2, Buddha was sent home for manhandling fellow contestant Taylor Made. Buddha was allowed to return during a later episode after the other cast members signed waivers.

During the most recent Real World: Sydney, Trisha pushed Parisa to the ground. Parisa was given the option to decide whether Trisha got to stay or had to leave. She would have been allowed to remain in the house if Parisa gave her permission.

It should be noted that C.T. did not attack Davis because he's homosexual. C.T. is an a$$ when he drinks. If you saw the most recent episode of the Gauntlet, a drunk C.T. was verbally attacking a couple of women on his team. One of whom was Diem, the former cancer patient who he has been dating for over a year. By the way, C.T. isn't very popular. He's one of the most hated - by fans AND the other cast members - players on the show.
Reply:The thing to remember about MTV is it's a business with a bottom line. I have to admit the only time I saw the show was the incident and that was because a friend that was pretty ticked off about it had it tivoed and wanted me to ne just as upset about it. If you look at the history of MTV original programming two truths hold evident- sex and violence sell. When they run promos for anything those are the two things they focus on. I think MTV handled it right removing him last season and I think it's okay to have him back this season. Maybe the guy learned a little something? Whenever it comes down to anything with that network I just remember the source and take it with a huge grain of salt, I don't believe they are above staging incidents just to create a buzz and who knows this wasn't one of those occassions. The best way to send them a message is to just not watch their crap anymore. If I really believed this was a legit case of violence I'd probably be just as outraged as you, but it's MTV where very little is real.
Reply:Yea I saw that last season but I don't think to much of it, you can hit someone and be banned from the current season that you're in but you can be chosen to come back in another season. Its all about popularity and also the show is fake so don't take it to seriously.

Also CJ was drunk when he punched Davis if you remember (I do).
