the-ist like cylcl-ist ends in ist because ist is a suffix meaning a person who participates or belongs to a group and it is pronounced seperately





the root word "the" is also the root of theology the study of religion





The-ists are people who belong to a group of people who beleive in the existence of a god

So... I'm not really an atheist. I'm more of an agnostic. Can I still play? I am what I am because he isn't what he said he is. Simple enough? He doesn't exist. I know it. And so I don't see the point in wasting my time in church. (not to be mean, just... I could be doing productive things instead)

What compelled me to become an atheist? the lack of any kind of evidence for any deity of course.
Reply:My partially Catholic family. The stories my grandmother read for me before bed were so repulsive, that i could not bare, to go by it. My catholic mother gave me a choice and i never looked back.
