SAT scores -- everything?

my SAT (I) scores were 'round the low 1400s. And I'm planning to apply to UBC. I just looked at their SAT requirements and they want atleast a 1700. Other than my SAT scores, I'm very very confident of my academic status: been in 4+ clubs throughout my high school years, I have a good rep among my fellow teachers, and my grades are mostly A's and B's. (with the exception of maybe one or two C's) Will my SAT scores hinder my acceptance to UBC?

SAT scores -- everything?
If you're that far off what they are looking for, it probably will make a big difference, but you can try to take the SAT again. The top Canadian universities are highly selective academically, and don't care very much about the non-academic issues.
Reply:20 years ago, when I was in school, you could take the SATs several times. People would usually plan to take it at least 3 times and submit their highest score. I suggest you plan on taking it again. Also, the scoring of the SATs is different from a regular test. In the stone ages, if you didn't answer a question, you only lost a quarter of a point, or something like that, while getting the wrong answer cost you a whole point. Find a book about SAT scoring and read it. Also, there are courses about taking the SATs that will teach you other tricks to improve your score.
Reply:Hi Iam sorry to say I do not have the answer to this question. I did ask a few friends and will send answer as soon as it comes. Its said you may take this test a few times? That being said good luck you seem like a very bright young lady. Sincerely Jimmy AKA lngtng.
Reply:The only way to find out is to apply. The worst that can happen is you lost a few bucks and your time.
