Is it just me or...?

is every musical turning into a movie?

with the exception of hairspray because it was a movie before the musical..buh i mean c'mon. chicago, rent, dreamgirls, sweeney todd, what's next?

Is it just me or...?
I think they do that because they know it was popular on Broadway. So they make it a movie because it will be a big hit!! And they will make tons of money because people can get was they pay $200 for, for $20
Reply:Musicals, though they have an impressive run in theatres, can be seen by millions of people who couldn't otherwise see them. A hit play or musical is almost a promise of a successful movie. The bottom line is profit. Oh, yeah, and art. Movies are an art form for the masses.
Reply:yep
Reply:seems like it
Reply:I guess creators feel since a musical did so well on the stage it might do even better on film!! Plus they know going in they will automatically get the Broadway crowd to the movie theater....chi-ching$$$
Reply:maybe cats wait i think that is already a movie dunno
Reply:It does seem that way, but some of them are for the best, I actually like a lot of the musicals but that is just me..You do have a point. Just like penguins, they are every where now in movies, its kinda cute, yet kinda eerie
Reply:being an ABBA fan, I want to see "Mamma Mia!"
